The world's largest wind power rotor core components have been successfully developed

October 11, 2022

The world's largest wind turbine Rotor Core components have been successfully developed in Dalian. It is reported that the product was cast by Dalian Heavy Industry. It is the product of GE General Electric Company's construction of marine EDF project for Alstom of France, and it is also the largest fan product currently put into commercial operation worldwide.

The core component of the wind turbine rotor is 6.9 meters in diameter and weighs 40 tons. It is the thinnest large-scale rotating product in the casting field. Not only is there no structural defect required, but the center shift cannot exceed 15 microns in the 6.9 meter diameter range. This product has been trial-produced in several factories in Italy, France, etc., but it has not been successful due to casting defects. After more than four months of hard work, Dalian Heavy Industry successfully developed the product and became the sole supplier of the key component of GE's 6 MW offshore wind power project.
